
Karolyn Vreeland Blume, attorney-at-law, has practiced law and championed conflict resolution through mediation for more than 30 years.
For 15 years she owned a private law practice handling business, corporate, civil, real estate, family law, municipal, employment, probate and estate matters. She served as a senior law clerk for the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 energy producer and broker.
She has arbitrated and mediated civil matters as both a private practitioner and chairman of a court-appointed compulsory arbitration panel. She has mediated all stages of conflict for businesses and individuals.
Karolyn has written articles for professional journals and other publications, conducted workplace investigations, researched and written on a wide variety of criminal and civil matters and drafted over 400 court opinions. She also maintains an active speaking schedule, lecturing on child custody, business conflicts, elder law and more.
She has served as an adjunct faculty member for Pennsylvania State University, Muhlenberg College and Cedar Crest College, For 4 years she coordinated and moderated a live call-in program for PBS television, where people telephoned questions to a panel of legal experts. Karolyn received a BA from Skidmore College and a JD from Villanova University School of Law. She is admitted to the Bar of Pennsylvania and the Bar of the District of Columbia.
She is active in many professional organizations, including the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section, Association for Conflict Resolution and its DC Chapter, Pennsylvania Bar Association Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee, Bar Association of Lehigh County, and Pennsylvania Council of Mediators.
Karolyn is a founding member of Mediators Beyond Borders, for which she has been active on the Katrina Project.
